Transcript Episode 0033 "House Arrest"
Hi.

So, I'm up here in my room again
because I'm grounded.

That's a juicer.

For juicing things.

Anyway, to make a long story short
when I got home last night

my Dad was waiting up for me.

He said I couldn't leave
the house for two weeks.

But you know what?

I don't care anymore.

Because you know what you do
when life gives you lemons?

[ music ]

You make lemonade.

So, I got to meet a lot of
Daniel's other friends at that party.

They asked me a lot of questions.

It was kind of like they thought
I was his girlfriend or something.

[ music ]

I really liked this girl Andrea
and her boyfriend Paul--

they were really nice, umm.

They invited us to come out
with them again tomorrow night.

I said that we'd come
if we weren't busy Proving Science Wrong

and I think I'm gonna go.

Even if it means sneaking out again.

[ music ]

I guess I just realized at the party
that maybe there's some things

that I've been missing out on,
just by always listening to what my parents say.

So, from now on if
they're not gonna say yes

and it's something that I wanna do,
I know where the tree is,

I know how to climb up and down it
and I know what time they go to bed.

I'm still going to do
preparations for the ceremony,

I still believe what I believe
and I just don't see the problem

with going out with Daniel a little more
and having fun with his friends

because they're really cool.

What's Harkle? Harkle is a search engine for finding web multimedia with captions. Why? Well, because until Harkle came along, finding captioned digital web video, audio and Flash wasn't easy, even though there's a lot out there. Our hope is that the easier accessible media is to find, the more we'll get. And the more we get, the better and more useful it will become. Captioned web audio and video-- who's it for? Audio captioning brings multimedia alive for the deaf and hard of hearing or for anyone who's ever asked, "What'd he say?" Descriptive scene captioning works wonders for those who have low vision or are blind. Is that all? Not even close. What good is video to a search engine if there's no text to search? Without captions or transcriptions, search engines are essentially "deaf" to any QuickTime, Real Player, Windows Media Player, Flash, podcast, mp3, blah, blah, blah media out there. And that means a lot of valuable information isn't being found or shared. Closed captions, open captions, subtitles... what's the difference? A lot or a little, depending on whom you ask. The important thing for web captions is that they're useful and work without fail. Harkle makes every effort to deliver links to captions that will actually appear when you want them to. Make it easy on yourself by keeping your browsers and media players up to date. Help out! Harkle is run by one guy whose wife thinks he's crazy. So, if you know of some captioning, please submit the link. Tell content providers they should really add captions or at least transcripts to their content. Tell advertisers they should really sponsor captions and consider buying their products. And most of all, please tell my wife I'm not crazy.
